IAWP promotes educational activities by targeting growth and development of all individuals in the Employment Security and Training System.
Grants and Scholarships
Educational grants are awarded by IAWP to its members for job related academic study. There are individual grants available on the International and State levels.

- Freddy L. Jacobs Scholarship (International Level - STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP (for dependents of members)
- E. R. Herring Foundation Grant (State Level)
Workforce Professional Development Program
The Professional Development Program (PDP) is a series of study guides and tests designed to measure knowledge of workforce development programs. It provides members a chance to learn more about their profession and enhance career growth. Exams and guides are available in the following four areas
- History of Workforce Development
- Business and Job Seeker Specialist
- Unemployment Insurance Specialist
- Labor Market Information Specialist
The IAWP Certified Workforce Specialist Program
IAWP believes that to grow as people and to grow in our careers, we need to be lifelong learners. That's why IAWP is committed to helping its members achieve professional development goals and it is the reason the Certified Workforce Specialist (CWS) Program was developed. Distance Credentialed Facilitator (DCF) Online Training Program
The IAPES Foundation has partnered with ReadyMinds to offer the Distance Credentialed Facilitator (DCF) Online Training Program to IAWP members. Some of the advantages to the online training and obtaining the DCF credential are:
- Establishes that IAWP members are adhering to and using the best professional practices and ethical standards related to distance facilitation in providing employment and career facilitation services;
- Enhances the credibility of the agency or institution;
- Enables the IAWP member and their organization to reach customers in a more professional manner;
- Provides a basis to develop and implement effective distance service delivery programs; and
- Connects agencies and practitioners with networks and resources related to distance delivery.
